A personal injuries claim taken against Keelings has been withdrawn after CCTV footage showed that the worker at the centre of the case slipped on a grape she had been carrying herself.
Myriam Scanderi, a 57‑year‑old fruit packer, had sought €60,000 in damages after suffering a serious shoulder injury at the company’s Dublin processing plant. However, during the Circuit Civil Court hearing, forensic analysis of the CCTV footage revealed that the grape she slipped on had fallen from a bucket she was holding at a tilted angle.
The footage also showed two employees walking ahead of her with no debris on the floor, supporting the defence’s position that the spillage originated from Scanderi’s own bucket. After both sides’ engineering experts conferred, her legal team informed the court that the claim would be withdrawn.
Judge James O’Donohoe struck out the case with no further order, with both parties acknowledging that while Scanderi’s injury was significant, the defendants bore no responsibility for the accident.
